Google Analytics

If you are new to Internet marketing, especially web site promotion, you probably have heard about the “Google Analytics.” But you may not know how to activate it on your WordPress site. Google’s unique tool, Google Analytics, enables website owners to keep track of visitors and other site statistics. But many site owners don’t use this tool, or even know how to turn it on.

Analytics is not just a tool for tracking visitors. It can also be used to determine where your traffic is coming from, how they found your site, and what pages they found most interesting. These data can help you determine where you need to focus your site marketing efforts the most. You may find that you’re losing money on some of your most popular pages. By knowing how your visitors came to your site, you’ll be better able to target them with content and special offers.

You can’t just activate Google Analytics on a whim. Before you do anything else, you need to make sure that you are able to access the tool from every computer on the Internet that has an Internet connection. (For even faster functionality, you may want to consider using a program such as My-SQL that allows you to connect to multiple servers.) The more computers that your visitors have access to the site, the more accurate your tracking results will be. Also, it’s best to run the Google Analytics software on a regular basis so you will be able to keep track of new features and enhancements that are added.

One of the first things you want to do is create a custom URL for your analytics tracking JavaScript code. This way, you will only need to enter this code once, and your visitors will see the same page each time. If you link your site to another, you may discover that some visitors come to your site from another, unrelated site. By making your own URL, you can ensure that visitors always arrive at your content page.

Once you have your JavaScript code, you will also want to make sure that it is activated on every page of your site. This will allow you to track exactly where people are clicking on your links. To do this, go to your analytics section, and click the button known as “activate tracking everywhere.” When a small window appears, check the box next to “accessible across all sites” and push the submit button.

Once the “activate tracking everywhere” option becomes active, Google Analytics will begin tracking your visitors. In particular, it will record which pages of your site are most popular. You should be able to view these statistics on any website that uses Google’s official add-on. However, if you want to view them on a separate page, you should open a separate Google tab for the site. It should look like this:

Once your site is ready to see the details of your visitors, go to the section where you can find the various types of information. Under the section known as “Google Analytics,” you will see a wide variety of different reports. You can choose which ones you want to view by clicking on the appropriate “igate to” icon. These include basic information such as the number of unique visitors to your site, the number of page views per visit, and the referral activity of your site.

For more detailed information on how to activate Google analytics in your site, including instructions for making it more efficient and useful, you may wish to read Google’s documentation. You will find that it provides step-by-step instructions on how to set up a Google Analytics tracking code, as well as instructions for activating the feature on your website. Keep in mind, though, that it is possible for a single JavaScript file to activate the tracking on your site and yet block the actual analytics from collecting data. If this occurs, you should go back into your Google Analytics account and change the code that is activating the tracking to include a reference to your personal account.
